Amy Plavin, DVM, CVA, CVSMT
Dr. Amy Plavin offers residents of the Pioneer Valley a wholly integrated approach to veterinary medicine, offering a range of services including traditional veterinary care, acupuncture, herbal medicines and soon, spinal manipulation - all tailored to the unique needs of your animal.
Amy graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and then pursued a career in small animal medicine before eventually moving to and settling in the Valley in 1993. She worked in the Northampton area for several years before finally opening her own practice in July of 1998. Windy Hollow Veterinary Clinic was born out of Dr. Amy's desire to use an integrative approach to veterinary medicine. Dr. Amy is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, completed advanced training in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Western Herbal Medicine. In 2006 she completed a year-long course in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy.
At Windy Hollow Farm Amy and her husband Craig Metzler, a long time Franklin County resident, enjoy the many activities that keep a farm running.
Her hobbies include the breeding for show and sale of Connemara ponies, sheep herding, gardening and agility with her border collie Meg.
Marci Lowy, DVM
Dr. Marci Lowy graduated Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 1996. She then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Marci has been practicing small and exotic animal medicine in the Pioneer Valley since 1997. She emphasizes compassionate traditional medicine with a great interest in integrating the specialties Dr. Amy offers. Dr. Marci provides kind and knowledgeable wellness care, urgent patient care, dentistry, radiology and surgery services. She will also offer care for rabbits, ferrets, birds, reptiles and small mammals. Marci, her husband David and their three young children live at Simple Gifts Farm, a CSA in Amherst. When not at Windy Hollow Veterinary Clinic, Marci is active at Simple Gifts Farm helping produce locally grown eggs, naturally raised meat and organic certified vegetables.
